You can bet the moneyline on all sports but soccer, baseball and hockey are the most common. Betting the money line means to win outright. There are no points spreads and if the game ends a tie it is a push and you should get your money back.
The minus (e.g. -185) is the favored team and it means you must bet $185 to win $100 so you would get back $285 total. The plus team (e.g. +165) is the underdog and means if you bet $100 you would win $165 and get back $265 total. The underdog team always pays better because the calculated risk is higher. These ratios can be broken down further like for +165 – betting $10 would win $16.50 and so on.
